Do you want your business to be flexible enough to adapt, adjust and grow in turbulent marketing conditions? Of course you do. But what are you doing to inspire your employees? A good leader has a love for learning that is instilled in their employees.
To explain, you must encourage a working atmosphere where learning is imperative. In my experience, this falls down to you as an individual. A good leader will be able to demonstrate a love of learning to their employees. This will encourage a learning-positive environment. This environment should be considered absolutely essential when running a diverse, changing business.
There are four secrets to being a good learner:
Be inspired, not threatened, by new ideas
Are you afraid of challenges to the norm? If so, then good luck. Managers who choose to see innovation as a threat that will diminish their power make a grave mistake. Are you dedicated to your company’s growth and willing to work hard to achieve it? Then any change will only make your position stronger. Take inspiration from new places.
Recognise your personal prejudices and admit them to others
Do you treat all your employees the same? You better had. Biases in business are often suffocating. In fact, they can make you blind to good ideas. Significantly, they will cause you to spend time and money on farfetched or risky concepts. Keep an open mind and don’t hold a bias when it comes to your business. By abandoning your prejudices, you never know what could inspire you.
Remain humble
Remember that even the most important business knowledge is, at best, temporary. As a result, today’s best ideas sometimes won’t be effective tomorrow. Consider that the market is always changing and responding. With that in mind, you should too! By remaining modest about your accomplishments, you can build a foundation of support in your organisation that’ll help you later.
Finger on the Pulse
Consider the fact that your market is always changing, then consider the value of knowledge. To be able to stay up to date, self-aware and have your finger on your pulse is an invaluable resource.
